Memoriam (Part 2)

As Reid investigates the cold case of young boy that was murdered in Las Vegas during his childhood, he discovers possible connections to his own past, including his own father. While the rest of the team head back to D.C., Rossi and Morgan stay in Las Vegas to help Reid solve the case once and for all. During the investigation, Reid undergoes hypnosis to try to recover any surpressed memories and recalls his father burning bloody clothes, making him believe that his father was the murderer. The team gets the police record of a man who's MO points to him as the killer and a fingerprint search leads them to discover that he was murdered and buried in the desert, but never identified until then. A fingerprint on his glasses leads to the murdered boy's father who confesses to killing the man in revenge for his son after he admitted to murdering him and a "concerned citizen" said he was going after another child. Reid's parents arrive and explain the rest: the child the killer was going after next was Reid himself and his mother realized it and warned the man. He beat the killer to death while Reid's mother was in the car and she came in and got blood on her clothes. She told his father who burned her clothes out of fear that she could go to prison for her role in the man's death. The secret ruined their marriage ultimately which is why Reid's father left and never came back, though he did keep up with Reid's life. Meanwhile, JJ's baby is born and after it's all over, she asks Reid to be godfather.
