A Foreign Field

The body of a man is found dead by a tree having been there overnight. The autopsy reveals he had been poisoned by cyanide and his clothes have no labels. The last person to be seen with the man was a blonde woman. When his wife appears they believe they have his name but she becomes a suspect, as a blonde, when further investigation reveals the man had multiple identities and lovers. Together with a coded message, which Blake tries to decode, a soviet agent is suspected and a retarded peeping tom may hold a clue. A new pathologist Alice Harvey joins the Ballarat medical team.
