In the sequel to Precursor, the isolated human colony has led a precarious existence on the hostile world of the alien atevi, until the return of the starship Phoenix threatens to shatter the precarious balance of power as the atevi enter into the precarious world of space travel and their human negotiator becomes caught in the middle of a mutiny.
