In The Running
Reenie was having a bad day. Finding evidence of her fiancé's crimes and infidelities, then witnessing a murder was bad enough. Now, just as she's almost reached refuge, she suffers a concussion in an accident. When the boat trailer he was towing broke loose and ran her off the road, Matt wanted to take the injured woman to the hospital, but couldn't refuse her pleas to not report the accident. It was obvious she was running from something or someone, so he took her home to his family's marina and called his sister, a nurse, to examine her. Reenie has no one to turn to. Her only relative is her grandmother, a governor's widow, who is under the thumb of her political protege--the dangerous fiancée. She feels safe with Matt, but fears bringing danger on him and his family if she tells him her story. Nevertheless, she accepts a position as housekeeper while recuperating from her injuries.
