After the death of their son, Isabella Wynford and her husband, Aristotle, had drifted apart. She had hoped the trip to England would bring them together once more. Instead, Ari blithely announces that he'll be seeking a divorce once they're home again. It's as he strolls away from her, oblivious to the pain he's inflicted with his rejection, that Isabella hears voices, voices that seem to be calling to her. A child cries out, Mama! Bella, come to me! commands a deep voice from far away.
Almost at once, lightening flashes from the brewing storm around them on the ancient battlefield and strikes the ground virtually at her feet. A black chasm opens, sucking her down.
