Doorways In The Sand
Rating
This is an excellent piece of work, far better than anything else I've encountered by Zelazny. It's funny, lyrical, and thought-provoking, which is more than can be said of a great deal of science fiction. I'm not sure where else you can find aliens masquerading as Australian wildlife, a machine that will change your the handedness of your molecules and physiology, an interesting allegory on developing nations, and a protagonist who begins the story as a 13-year undergraduate with a tendency toward Acrophilia.
